River Cast - Samantha Young

This is the second book in the Lunarmorte series.

"The war is escalating.
Caia is caught between her loyalty to the Daylights and her new insight into the hearts of the Midnights.
Invited to train at the Centre under the tutelage of the Daylights, Caia and Lucien immerse themselves in the world of the Head of the Coven, Marita. With an upcoming battle hanging over their heads, Caia and her Alpha struggle to understand Marita’s vision for the future of the Coven, and withstand her manipulation and plans for them. Plans that are sure to separate Caia from Pack Errante; plans that inadvertently push Caia not only further away from Lucien, but from all Daylights.

Conflicted… Caia must choose a side in the war. And her choice may mean sacrificing all those she has come to love."

There's only so many words i can use to describe this book, i mean arghh! It is just impossibly awesome there is seriously not one sentence that you get bored with, in every paragraph something is always happening, whether it breaks your heart or makes you jump for joy. Not meaning to sound totally cliche but what i am feeling right now is a whole lot of anger that the book finished on a cliffhanger....and i have to wait until the 8th of April for the next installment!
Well let me just say, kudos to Lucien for his work with Caia their relationship in the book turns into every possible direction which is certainly half the excitement of the novel. Everything just seems to sink into place as the story goes along, Samantha definitely did a fantastic job on this one, might even be better than the first novel. We'll just have to see if the third lives up to the expectations of the first two now.
This book gets a 9-9.5 in the SophaScale :P

Lunarmorte - Sam Young

Wow. Just Wow. Usually i would just start with the description of the book but i actually just finished it about 5 minutes ago so i am still having after-affects. This book was just....wow.
"Amidst the magikal children of the ancient Greek gods, lives a girl destined to bring their ancient war to an end.

Caia Ribeiro has lived a life of isolation and mystery since the death of her parents, and separation from her lykan pack at the age of seven. Returning ten years later under the supervision of the pack's young leader, Lucien, Caia finds herself seduced by pack life and her enigmatic guardian. But when strange happenings lead to near exposure of their world, Caia begins to realise Lucien and the Elders have been keeping unforgivable secrets, leaving Cania to come to terms with her dark and unique heritage.

Scarcely given time to adjust to her new reality, the war she believed stormed only on distant shores, crashes on her doorstep, forcing Caia to put aside her conflict with Lucien, in order to save them all from an old enemy and his relentless pursuit. "

Lunarmorte was filed with so many surprises throughout that your hand would be glued to your mouth in shock if it wasn't being used to hold the page open. Let me tell you it NEVER gets boring. There's two guys fighting over her...sigh...and powers no one else has witnessed before. i mean what else could you want from a novel it is just utterly pleasing.
*Small Spoiler* The death scene at the end was the only thing i felt should have been changed, yes something needed to be done with the issue the person had, but i felt death could have been avoided as I'm sure Samantha could have thought up more creative solutions also the book did not benefit from this either - it just felt a bit pointless really. *End Spoiler*
Anyway i loved the character of Lucien he was just to die for! especially that short temper he seems to have with Caia. Caia got on my nerves a bit in the beginning as even thought being 17 she had the balls of a 10 year old, in this era what 17 year old would cower like that? i understand the situation she was put in but felt Sam was exaggerating her timidity at the start. As the book went on she seemed to have gained more balls to a point where she stands up to the pack leader.
All in all this book was a refreshing read that i thoroughly enjoyed and hope you will too. This gets a 9 on the SophaScale.

Hexbound - Chloe Neil

"Lily Parker is new to St. Sophia’s School for Girls, but she’s already learned that magic can be your best friend…or your worst enemy.

They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. Turns out, even a little magic can turn you to the dark side. That’s why Lily has to learn how to control her newly discovered paranormal abilities, on top of avoiding the snobs who think they run her school, nursing a crush on a cute sophomore with a big, werewolf-y secret, and fighting the good fight with her best friend Scout as they take on Chicago’s nastiest nightlife—including the tainted magic users known as Reapers.

Then Lily’s invited to a private meeting with Sebastian. He’s hot, powerful, and offering to help her harness the magic flowing in her veins in a way no one else can. He’s also a Reaper. Lily can’t hide her suspicions. But she’ll soon find out that the line between good and evil isn’t always clear…"

Well, this is the second book in the series, i should have uploaded my review for the first book but since i read it a while ago i
didn't think i would do it enough justice. I absolutely love this series especially this book. You never really know whats coming because it has so many open ends that can lead to different things but also come together to make you think "ohhhhhh that totally fits in well". For the characters themselves Lily and Scout are two amazing people to read about, however I'm not to keen on Jason he really seems like he's hiding something, i love werewolves but lily and Jason's relationship doesn't seem strong enough....enter Sebastian, who cares if he's evil he's totally smexxy to think about with Lily and there is going to be LOTS of controversy if they get into it, i smell an interesting read coming on! (sorry if some people are reading this and going wahh?! because seriously....READ IT!) the thing i was absolutely annoyed about *SMALL SPOILER* was when Jason went all "being a werewolf is a curse, i can only be around friends when i change, my parents are going to pick a female wolf out for me one day blah blah blah" i don't know whether i was just feeling what Lily would of felt or what but i just hated it.
Don't let that slow you down because all in all it was just thrilling to read and gets an 8 on the SophaScale :P

My Soul To Take - Rachel Vincent

Once again i have lagged at posting my reviews, i apologise but what can i say..i get distracted. Anyways...
"High school junior Kaylee Cavanaugh is trying to balance her normal life with a newly discovered, terrifying ability to make life-and-death decisions—literally. Kaylee is a banshee, complete with an uncontrollable scream that rips from her when someone near her is about to die. And the more people she saves, the harder it becomes to guard her own soul from things that go bump in the Netherworld.

My Soul to Take: A banshee scream bursts from her throat, and someone dies. Kaylee Cavanaugh doesn't know why she is compelled to scream—she knows only that she can’t stop it. And now, just as she's started dating the hottest guy in school, classmates are dying—and Kaylee keeps screaming..."

So i have read Rachel Vincent's entire Fayth Sanders series and was completely in love and didnt know what to do when the series stopped so i thought I'd check out her teen series. Of course i was a bit worried when it came to the whole "she knows when people will die" thing but i thought what the hell with an awesome author this book HAS to be decent... and i was right to make that assumption because this book was very different to most teen reads but not too different that you just cant stand it...if that makes sense. Kaylee seems to be an unique character herself definitely not familiar to any Bella or Rose character (don't get me wrong though I'm sure twilight/vampire academy-team VA FTW-fans would love it, i know i did). The book isn't predictable which is a hard quality to find in a book these days, and i found the only common element was the boy factor although even that was different in a sexy way ;)
I hope i
havn't confused anyone with my rambling, this book gets an 7 on the SophaScale.
