Unearthly By Cynthia Hand

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

This book rocked!
After reading Embraced i was i the mood to read Unearthly for some more Angel fun, hoping it was as great as Embrace so i wouldn't be disappointed and i wasn't. But it was definitely different from Embrace, for instance a significant amount of the story is her attending school which is what i love about it because honestly there are some VERY funny moments of her at school.
The whole angel thing is different as well whereas embrace was about guardian angels in a way this book is more about fulfilling your purpose in life (her vision).

As for the characters is nothing you have witnessed before. I can't ever remember so many times that i was screaming in my head to this girl. She's one brave brown nut. I just can't get over how she can just stare at someone and check them out while she knows that people are watching her including the person she's checking out, it's just hilarious! The best part for me (TINY SPOILER) was when she followed Christian to a pizza place then watched from a table as he played arcade type games. His friends became aware of her watching him and made remarks about how "Bozo The Clown/Hot Bozo" (reference to her died red hair-you'll have to read it to find out why she died it) was watching him. AND SHE CONTINUED TO LOOK AT HIM! She finally looked away when he caught her eyes, then swiftly left the pizza place.

I'm URGING you to read this book.
It definitely gets a 9.5 on the SophaScale. (it was that good i had to put .5! threes nothing wrong with it but i only save 10's for books that are so good it leaves me thinking about them for days...so 9.5!)

Embrace By Jessica Shirvington

I slowly opened my eyes. The sun speared its first bright rays of golden orange into the sky and I leapt from the cliff, with the sorrowful knowledge that no matter what the outcome, at least part of me would die that day...

Violet Eden is dreading her seventeenth birthday dinner. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. The one bright spot is that Lincoln will be there. Sexy, mature and aloof, he is Violet’s idea of perfection. But why does he seem so reluctant to be anything more than a friend?

After he gives her the world’s most incredible kiss – and then abandons her on her front doorstep – Violet is determined to get some answers. But nothing could have prepared her for Lincoln’s explanation: he is Grigori – part angel and part human – and Violet is his eternal partner.

Without warning, Violet’s world is turned upside down. She never believed in God, let alone angels. But there’s no denying the strange changes in her body ... and her feelings for Lincoln. Suddenly, she can’t stand to be around him. Luckily, Phoenix, an exiled angel, has come into her life. He’s intense and enigmatic, but at least he never lied to her.

As Violet gets caught up in an ancient battle between dark and light, she must choose her path. The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity...

Wow. What can i say this book is definitely not like any other hmm...well maybe a little bit like Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers in a way because of the two guys fighting over her...one supposedly evil while the other is practically an angel, so if you liked that you will LOVE this and visa versa ;) . The book was easy to make sense of but never made you lose interest i literally never put it down.
The characters themselves were pretty unique and not knockoffs from some other books (THANK GOD!) no problem at all with their roles, they all seemed to fit in well with the story.
Even the plot was fantastic it never wavered or disappeared while they made it through their various love problems.
The only part that annoyed me (SPOILER AHEAD) was when she lost her virginity to Phoenix, not that i wasn't rooting for him to win her heart-because i was- but the way it was described made it out to be only a make out session with a lot of feeling but the day after she woke up and they were both naked. It gave me the feeling like she'd blacked out and didn't realised they had sex, yet she carried on as normal and later on she thinks about losing her virginity to him which confirms what should have been told earlier.
Regardless of this, the book is definitely worth reading and it won't disappoint i promise :)
I give this book a 9 on the SophaScale :P
